Top-down Set in Sleeves Explained 11

I’m so enthusiastic about the top-down set-in way I knit the sleeves of my cardigan, that I felt the urge to explain exactly how it’s done. So I made this little series of drawings.

I hope these drawings make sense to other people than just me…

I seriously cannot see why anyone would ever knit a sleeve the old fashioned way again. This is both easier to do and easier to get a good fit from.

Hilsen Anna

Thanks so much for your little drawings, it makes everything much clearer. I knit my first top down set-in sleeves a month ago and I totally agree with you that there’s no point anymore in working sleeves the ‘old’ way. thanks again!

@Annie + monbouton: Thank you both so much. I’m so excited it works and happy that you like it 🙂

@Lou: Tak for hjælpen med at gøre det klarere. Seriøst! 🙂

This is BRILLIANT! Thank you so much for sharing. I HATE set in sleeves more than I dislike seaming pieces together, so this is quite a trick for me to tuck into my Little Dit Bag of Tricks.

I do have one question… do you use your ‘Short Rows with Shadow Wraps’ (also BRILLIANT!)on this sleeve? My guess is YES, but want to make certain before I pick up my needles and trot off into FROG LAND.

I just found your site and thoroughly enjoy it. Know that I’ll be sharing it with my other knitting friends.

Thank you again for your tutorials.

    Your English is excellent!
